We stayed for multiple weeks and enjoyed the easy access to Main street and the quietness of the surroundings where the house is located. There were only two of us and the house worked really well for us. I suspect 4 would be ideal and 6 might feel a bit crowded if you plan to stay for more than a few days. The management company is the most responsive I have ever experienced in renting on either Airbnb or VRBO. They were excellent.

PETS
Well-behaved dogs are allowed with prior approval (and $75 fee per pet, per stay). Please clean up after your pet both inside and outside the house. Sorry, cats are not permitted.
Failure to disclose any pets in advance may result in additional fees or penalties.
SMOKING
No smoking is permitted inside the house. If you must smoke, please do so outside and dispose of butts properly. Any violation of this policy is subject to a $500 fee.
EXCESSIVE CLEANING FEES
We kindly ask that guests treat the home with care and respect. Should the property require cleaning beyond the standard turnover—due to excessive mess or incidents involving bodily fluids such as blood, vomit, or waste—a $500 fee may apply. Any linens or furnishings damaged beyond repair will also be subject to replacement charges. These situations are considered outside the scope of routine housekeeping and require specialized attention to ensure the safety and well-being of our team.
ACCURATE GUEST COUNT
The number of guests must be accurately disclosed at the time of booking. While we don’t charge extra for additional guests up to the home’s maximum occupancy, this information is essential so we can properly prepare and stock the home. Please note that penalties may apply if guest counts are inaccurate or intentionally misrepresented.
OUTSIDE SERVICE PROVIDERS
Outside staff such as private chefs, massage therapists, or other service providers are welcome, but prior approval is required before they come on-site.
SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENTS
Guests may be required to sign a rental agreement. If applicable, it will be sent after the booking is confirmed.
SEPTIC
Please be mindful of the septic system and do not flush anything down the toilets or drains other than toilet paper. This includes any and all personal hygiene products, baby wipes, bleaches and strong chemical cleaners.

Great stay at the Cottage. It was cute, clean and accurately described. We were a party of 6 adults and it was very comfortable. We even grilled out one night which was fun. Can’t ask for a better location to walk around Great Barrington. Close to other towns for nice day trips. Highly recommend.

What a great house in a great area of Great
What a great house in a great area of Great Barrington. The house was clean and comfortable. We loved the backyard (fenced in), which was great for our dog as well. We were able to walk to downtown Great Barrington from the house for coffee, breakfast, lunch and dinner. The house was also close enough to several great hikes. We highly recommend staying here and we can't wait to come back for a summer or fall stay next tie around.

The property was great. There seemed to be a breaker that was tripped, but that was the single thing that wasn’t perfect. And, it didn’t really affect our stay. The home is beautifully redone, spotless, and well equipped. It is VERY close to downtown and makes visited Great Barrington a breeze. We would be delighted to stay there again.

We enjoyed a relaxing weekend in Great Barrington at this great house. We loved walking a few minutes into town for coffee from our choice of cafes and appreciated how many shops and restaurants we could access without needing to drive. The house was comfortable and clean and the kids loved playing in the big backyard while the snow was coming down - a quintessential Western MA experience!

My dog and i absolutely love the River House. We have stayed there on many occassions- from 2 nights to 3 months- and have come to think of it as "home". It is incredibly clean and well kept and free of clutter. It has everything you need and more. The Red Cottage folks are incredibly responsive (quick and helpful) and also proactive. I can't recommend this enough.

It was also very easy to get into the main part of Great Barrington, to enjoy the shade of the river walk, and to explore the area, given the easy access to main roads (all while being just a little out of the way of major traffic).

I spent 2 weeks at the house with my dog
I spent 2 weeks at the house with my dog on an experiment- to see how i could live and work outside of my current apt in NYC. The experience was perfect in part due to the house- walking distance to GB but very private; beautiful large back yard (although could benefit from some more comfortable chairs); incredible internet; very happy and sunny house. Bed was more comfortable than mine at home and linens exceptional. Washer/dryer was a joy to have and use especially since my dog went swimming every day. I will definitely be back maybe even for longer. Couldn't have been happier with my choice and only my second Airbnb and the longest one for sure. Hosts were very easy and helpful to deal with. Close to everything and easy to access.

This lovely cottage was close to amenities yet felt so private and sweet. The backyard backs up to the river, and was a great place to enjoy coffee, read, and watch all the bird life. The River Cottage locale was a fine home base from which to explore the Berkshires, and we appreciated all the good recommendations. The home was clean, well appointed, nicely decorated, spacious, with a cozy farmhouse feel, with modern amenities. We'd love to come again, and can heartily recommend it!
When I tell you that River Cottage is a dream
When I tell you that River Cottage is a dream house to stay in when you visit Great Barrington or Southern Berkshire County, I really, really mean it! This home is hands down one of the best locations to book. It is not only beautiful, but perfectly located in downtown Great Barrington, right by all of the coolest shops and restaurants. And even though it is in town, it's down a very quiet street that made our trip as calm, quiet, and restful as we hoped. The homeowners have done a gorgeous job with the property- the design is exactly as described (chic, modern!) but also extremely considerate to what we might need and how we hoped to feel. It's clear that they love this space. Every single detail was accounted for, and there really wasn't a single thing that we lacked. Even the bedding and towels were so soft! Staying at River Cottage was just as good as staying at a boutique hotel, especially thanks to the Posto Property Team. We were really, really well taken care of, and the communication was perfect- just the right balance of responsive, helpful, caring, and professional, while also staying personal and human! Favorite parts of this home for us were the kitchen (everything we needed and all new appliances- great for cooking after we stopped by the Great Barrington Farmer's Market on Saturday!), the bathrooms & laundry (spacious and comfortable), and the fenced in backyard! There was a grill back there, a riverside fire pit, and a safe & secure place for our dog to run around and sniff. Truly couldn't choose a better spot in The Berkshires, especially if you want to strike a balance between easy access to town and a fantastic home base for all sorts of adventures! We've stayed in some beautiful hotels and Airbnbs before, but this will be a home we hope to return back to soon.

We loved our stay at this home in Great Barrington! It was great being about to walk right out the door and head to many different restaurants and shops several times per day. The house itself was very comfortable, and the surrounding nature was beautiful. This was exactly what we were looking for. What stands out the most is that my family got sick right before our scheduled stay, and the host worked with us to reschedule our trip for another weekend at no extra cost. Even when the timeline was a little tight, they made it work for us, which was really, really appreciated. Thank you!

This was my 3rd time staying at this AirBnB and I still love it. I'm from Great Barrington but there's not enough space at my parents' place for my family so we've been staying here. It's in the perfect location and has everything we need. Will definitely be coming back for our future visits!

Perfect place for a 2 week stay! Location was fantastic; quiet but walkable to everything in downtown. The house was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. The fenced in back yard was private with a view of the river and was great for our black lab to run. We even enjoyed a fire in the fire pit one evening. The Internet service was very good and the 3 of us were able to work and have video conferences with no problem. Highly recommend!

The backyard is lovely with an outside table and umbrella and lots of grass that make it an inviting country house. The communication with the property manager is fast and responsive.
